Im planning on making an dr appointment for next monday to finally be screened for SAD. I am fairly posative that i have suffered untreated since early childhood. I am terrified of dr's, hospitals, and needles. i am so fearful that he will have to do a blood test or something. i am very avoiding of dr visits bc of the fear that i will have to have some type of invasive test. i know it is time for me to seek help though and i dont know how or where to start. so the plan is to visit my family dr and tell him just that, and maybe he can help. if anyone can give me any advice or provide any insight as to what i should expect i would really appreciate it. Thanks for your encouraging words everyone!

I do wish you good luck on your screening. However, for me my own diagnosis is common sense. I usually know better than the doctors anyway (a story for another time). I know deep down what my problem is because I go through it everyday, for years. I do wish you the best of luck and then hope you find the help that you're looking for.

I found some online screening methods and forms that helped me - even though I knew I had GAD and some SAD, but the online screening tests helped simply quantify what I thought I had and helped me find some websites and some blogs that were helpful If you dont find any on here try Midwest Center for Anxiety and Depression -they have more and better resource information on that website - althought the blog here is a bit more timely and engaging than Midwest.

I wish you the best of luck. I have re-occurrences of GAD nad SAD every few years but there are some resources out there to help improve.
