Good mornin Tribe ...

Well, today I am ready for something new ... to others it may seem silly, but too me, it is very important ...

As a Christian, I want my life to reflect Christ ... but how can I with a cigarette hanging out of my mouth!!!

So, with prayer and support, I am choosing to cut down thru out the day ... I am one of those ppl who cant just throw em away and be done with it ... I have to walk it out.

Yesterday, I smoked 11 cigarettes before noon!!! That is not ok with me. I am goin to do my best to smoke 1/2 a cigarette an hour.

When the urge comes on strong, and I know it will, I am goin to say, "I can do all things thru Christ who gives me strength" ...

Funny, stopping the drinking was easy compared to stopping smoking ... but, it is something I really really want. I am ready to be healthy and free of this bondage. Its just come to the point that enough is enough.

And who knows, I may find that I have the strength in a day or two to throw them away completely.

Say a prayer for me as I start out on my journey to freedom from cigarettes ...

Have an amazing day ya'll ...

To help our mother to quit smoking, we first figured out how many cigarettes she smoked a day. Then we got an empty pack and when she asked for a cigarette we'd always remove ONE from the pack. That cig went into the empty pack and into a container in the freezer. After she adjusted to 19 per pack. We'd take TWO out of a new pack and place them in the pack in the freezer. When she see her pack empty after having smoked 19, then 18, then 17, etc. She felt she was done for the day. And was spreading out when she had one without us having to do it for her. It became like her way of having all she wanted but taking them when she wanted them.

Oh, when a pack would fill up in the freezer, we'd take that out, let it warm up and use it with the number of cigarettes we were giving her for a day. She saw the packs and saw sometimes there were only
a few. She began to think that she didn't need to smoke another.

Eventually, it got down to 2 then 1. Then an occasional one then none. This helped her health tremendously. The only problem we had were relatives who came to visit and kept offering her cigarettes even after we told them the doc wanted us to cut back and get her off of them. Other than that she was in good health and very active, but didn't drive!!! So we were the cigarette brigade.

This worked beautifully, because it was gradual and she didn't feel deprived. Eventually she'd say no to the relatives, or put her hand up that she didn't care for one. I think she only smoked one once maybe every 6 months, then she just didn't want one.

Hope this helps. Have a good day and keep saying those prayers.
