Well, I bought a treadmill about a month ago and I have been able to finally use it throughout the past few days. I was sick with bronchitis for a while and the breathing was already difficult enough that I didn't even attempt to get on the treadmill with it. So, Wednesday I decided that I would walk on it for a little more than a mile. I noticed that I had a panic attack that night and also some lingering anxiety. Did about the same amount of exercise on Thursday and had the same issue with the panic and anxiety. Well, the last two days produced the same results and it is rather frustrating. Everytime I work out, I have horrible panic and anxiety. My psychiatrist told me last time I saw him that exercise is definitely good in the long run but yet in the short term it will cause anxiety and also induce more panic-like events. He told me that when our muscles are sore that they release lactic acid into the blood stream and that if you were to inject 10 people with lactic acid, that 9 of them would have a panic-like event. I listen to what my psychiatrist says because although he works for a place that helps low-income individuals that have mental health disorders, he graduated from Johns Hopkins University and is very intelligent. Anyone else notice this issue when exercising? I have been told that losing weight would help my anxiety and panic but these past few days have been torture!

I've never had that issue with exercise. This is the first time I've heard that. Hopefully this is just short term and like your doctor said it will be better in the long term. I've been trying to get a consistent exercise program going as well. I hope it gets better.

i get the same way when I go for a walk outside, that is why I bought a treadmill. I think that the reason why I get that way is because I leave my "safe zone" once I walk out the door. It's the "what if this happens or what if that happens" thoughts that go through my head.

I had a few bad days and when the weather turned I wanted to get outside for change of scenery and take a walk. I was used to doing about a mile walk but I could get to far away from my house, I got panicky. Not quite the same as what you are explaining, maybe a treadmill would help me, then again maybe not. I am babbling and doubt this helped at all.
