Id love to be a millionaire and to have the use of all the top consulatants to sort my head out. Instead I sat infront of a miserable GP this morning after a particularly crappy anxious weekend. I asked for help and better medication. He looked at his watch and would have preferred a patient who he could actually help. 5mins appointment that ended in a "well you are having counselling theres nothing much more I can do". Hey Dizzy!! Smile

I had the same problem last week. I kept asking the doctor questions as I was quite worried about the problem but all she could do was keep typing on the keyboard and didnt even bother to look up, I know how it feels and I didnt feel happy with her at all.

I felt like she didnt care about my concerns at all and she was assuming I had things and I was like oh whatever...

I remember u telling me that u go to uni, do they have doctors there that u could see? U can always change 2 a different GP that u r more happier & comfortable with.

Im sorry 2 hear it didnt go well.

I have had exactly the same fantasy to have the money so I could go to the top doctors until I found one that knew what to do. Is it possible for your counselor to write a note saying that in his/her opinion you need to be referred to a psychiatrist to prescribe meds for your problem. I don't know how your system works.

Good luck in addressing your anxiety problem. While you are waiting on a doctor to get a glass stomach so they can see where they are going, you may want to do some reading on the internet to try to educate yourself. Also, is there anyone at your nurses school that you feel comfortable enough asking for advice-one of the doctors or nurses that you know well or even another student nurse? I have found that I usually know more than my doctors because of all that I have read on social anxiety.

Just know that you are not alone in this experience. There are so many insensitive doctors out there!! I think the key is just to know exactly what you want when you go in. Then they feel like they can help you and the whole thing goes more smoothly.

You can change your gp if you are not happy or just ask to see another one at the practice.  Sorry it didn't go good, but stick with it and keep fighting.
